Sally Petersen opened Custom Creations in 2002 to pursue her lifelong passion of sewing and embroidery. A Shell Rock native, Petersen had worked at Montgomery Ward, Tasco, and at a daycare for 23 years. She decided it was time for a change.
Today, she offers the community custom embroidery, heat pressing, screen printing and custom sewing and alterations.
Her creations include specialty hats, blankets, shirts, baby items, and customized towels and blankets for graduations and weddings. She also offers home décor, aprons, signs and steel lawn ornaments, as well as school apparel for Clarksville and Waverly-Shell Rock.
Each day she tries to keep the embroidery machines running, while also keeping up with bookkeeping, ordering and serving her customers.
