Heeren’s giant pumpkin places fifth at state

Jennifer Heeren received fifth place, a $150 cash award and the Howard Dill Award Friday, showing her first pumpkin at the Iowa State Fair.

She entered a 414-pounder in the Big Pumpkin contest, named Rosetta, after a fair mascot.

Heeren’s giant pumpkin was a replant after a squash vine borer got to the first one.
