Harvest under way; Northey comments on Iowa crops and weather report

DES MOINES – This week's Iowa Crops and Weather report released by the USDA National Agricultural Statistical Service was the focus of comments by Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey. The report is released weekly from April through October.
  “Iowa farmers were able to harvest a quarter of the state’s 10 million acres of soybeans last week and have now 32 percent of beans out of the field," Northey said. "Thirteen percent of the state’s corn crop has also been harvested. 
  One rural Allison resident had been focusing on the bean harvest.
