Greene Elementary storage tank removal to proceed after bid

  North Butler School Board approved a proposal from Cardno ATC to proceed with removal, required testing and cleanup of an underground storage tank at the site of the closed Greene Elementary.
  Results of August testing near the Greene Elementary fuel oil tank showed diesel contamination in groundwater near the tank was above the minimum threshold for action of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
  Diesel level in the water was 30 times more than what the DNR allowed, North Butler Superintendent Joel Foster told the School Board at the Wednesday, Sept. 16 meeting.
