Grassley visits American Tool and Engineering

United States Senator Charles Grassley visited American Tool and Engineering in Greene early Monday morning to tour the facility and answer questions from employees and the public as part of his annual 99-county tour.
     Questions ranged from inquiries concerning trade negotiations with China and the USMC trade deal to health care, relations with Iran, economic development, apprenticeships and the Senator’s running regime.
     To open the discussion, Grassley mentioned he tries to visit several businesses each year throughout the state to reach out to those who are working and may not have time to attend the open town meetings he holds. He also visits high schools and Rotary Clubs to speak with students and community members. This Monday, no votes were being held in Washington D.C., so Grassley, who has not missed a vote in over 25 years, saw the day as a good opportunity to reach out to constituents.
     “This is an opportunity to make representative government work. How can I represent people if I don’t know what’s on their mind?” Grassley said.
