Clarksville students didn't let the rainy weather dampen their mood as they showed off their talents in the annual fine arts festival on April 30.
Exhibits from the K-12 art students and the high school industrial technology classes showcased projects ranging from customized wooden cutting boards to a large tree mural inspired by Gustav Klimt. Industrial technology teacher Ralph Longus was on hand to discuss student projects with interested members of the community.
Musical performances included the fifth and sixth grade bands, followed by the junior high choir, high school choir, junior high band, and high school band. Band and choir director John Sundet remarked that while adjusting to his first year in the vocal music program had been challenging, he was proud of how hard the students had worked and how much they had accomplished over the course of the year.
At the end of the evening, the graduating seniors were honored and thanked for their contributions to the music program. Seniors in band include Christopher Behrends, Alanna Ellerman, Cecelia Groah, Pacen Hendricks, Dawson Holub, Mallory Hoodjer, James Jacobsen, Drew Kromminga, Austin Myers, Bailey Myers, and Emily Wedeking. Seniors in choir include Alana Ellerman, Allyson Essink, Hannah Freerks, Cecelia Groah, Dawson Holub, Kylie Smith, Jordan Sommerfelt, and Emily Wedeking. As a token of their appreciation for Mr. Sundet's support throughout their high school careers, the seniors presented him with a potted plant and a large container of peanut M&M's (his favorite candy).
