FB, Ernst share thoughts on labeling meat for country, labeling biotech

Perceived government overreach in agriculture formed the theme when regional Farm Bureau representatives sat down with U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst, (R, IA) at a private forum on Saturday, Jan. 23 at Butler County Farm Bureau in Allison. Country Of Origin Labeling, Waters of the U.S., biotech labeling and the Transpacifi c Partnership Agreement were discussed.
As a member of Iowa’s delegation, Ernst was thanked for supporting the following Farm Bureau priorities: cellulosic and biodiesel tax credit though 2016, wind credits phase-out by 2020, funding for ag research, conservation, avian infl uenza measures, ag in the classroom, rural broadband, food safety inspections and a repeal of COOL to avoid retaliation from Canada and Mexico.
