Dollar General seeks to build in Clarksville

A public hearing on whether or not to sell the three city-owned vacant lots on Main Street to Dollar General will be held at the Clarksville City Council meeting on Monday, June 18 at 7 p.m. in the Clarksville Public Library basement.
     The alternate use considered for the property would be as a location for the new city hall. At present the city council has done nothing other than set the hearing for comments from the public.
      And comments have already started rolling in. Social media is abuzz with opinions from both sides of the discussion, but at the council meeting this Monday, feedback was positively for welcoming Dollar General to town.
     “How are we going to grow if we don’t bring businesses in?” resident Dawson Dowden asked.
