David Leroy Boomgarden (Boomer), 70

David Leroy Boomgarden (Boomer), 70, of Haxtun, Colorado passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Medical Center of in Aurora, CO.

David was born November 21, 1954, in Waverly, Iowa to Pete and Esther (Brocka) Boomgarden. David graduated from Allison-Bristow High School and worked in various roles from being a machinist to a construction laborer. His favorite role was working as a maintenance supervisor at Shell Rock Nursing Home, where he enjoyed getting to know the residents and dressing up for various holidays to see their smiles. Upon retirement from working as a machinist, David sold his acreage in Waverly, IA and relocated to Haxtun, CO where his daughter and her family resided. During his time in CO, his family was able to experience the absolute best version of Grandpa Boomer.

David will be remembered as being the loudest fan in the stands, a loving father and grandpa, someone who was willing to always tell it like it was, an avid YouTuber, a tremendous fan of classic cars and history, a garden assistant, and a repairman. Grandpa Boomer had a story and nickname for everyone.

David is survived by his son, Cole (Diane) Boomgarden, of Coralville, IA, his daughter Lee (Colton) Salyards of Haxtun, CO, grandsons, Pete and Easton Salyards and Chaz and Greyson Boomgarden. He is also survived by his siblings Bob (Betty) Boomgarden of Cedar Falls, IA and RaeAnn (Bill) Codner of Allison, IA, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

David was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jeff Boomgarden, and sister Mari Boomgarden.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

A memorial service is scheduled for 4 PM on June 10th at Wilder Park in Allison, IA.
