David Crow Wins North Butler Middle School Geography Bee

Allison, Iowa, (Friday, January 16, 2015) – David Crow, a 6th grade student at North Butler Middle School won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee on Friday, January 16, 2015, and a chance at a $50,000 college scholarship. The school-level Bee, at which students answered oral questions on geography, was the first round in the 27th annual National Geographic Bee.

Other winners in this year’s School-Bee were Trevor Brinkman, an eighth grader, in 2nd place, and Chase Eiklenborg, an eighth grader, placing 3rd. After the first preliminary rounds held a day earlier, there were 10 finalists vying for the top spot. Those that were in the final 10 competition were Noah Briney, Trevor Brinkman, David Crow, Chase Eiklenborg, Ian Gifford, Jack Langfritz, Leighton Schoville, Nadia Treichel, Xander Treichel, and Colby Wilkerson. Mr. Kirk Clark, director of the school bee, was helped by MaTina Clark (NB Counselor), Beth Endelman (NB Teacher), and Kevin Clipperton (NB Teacher). The entire student body, grades 5-8, and many parents / grandparents were there also to witness this great annual event.
