Dave Smith appointed to Allison council

Monday evening the Allison council majority voted to appoint David Smith to fill the seat left by councilman James Blockhus as he takes office as mayor.
     Smith previously served on the council from an appointment in May 2005 and for two elected terms until 2013.
     Mayor-elect Blockhus had talked with a couple prospects to fill the seat, but Smith seemed the most willing and enthusiastic. Others were only willing to commit if no one else wanted the job.
     “I talked with him, and he’s looking forward to the two-year stint,” councilman Jerry Platter said.
