Cramer retires after 38 years of firefighting

Lifelong Allison resident Craig Cramer was recognized at a recent pancake breakfast upon his retirement after 38 years of serving on the Allison Fire Department.
     During his 38 years of service, Cramer served as a training officer, lieutenant, and for 12 years as chief.
     “It was a fun time, a good time, and I enjoyed the people. That’s why I guess I hung in there that long…” Cramer said.       “[I enjoy] the camaraderie with the fellow members; they’re a great group of guys. We’ve had a lot of them; it’s kind of like a brotherhood. Everyone gets along well and knows what they have to do.”
     Cramer originally joined the fire department because he was asked to—and it seemed like a worthwhile endeavor. He stayed out of obligation to the community he served–since he had the training.
