County tax rates slated to fall

ALLISON — The Butler County auditor’s office has readied this year’s proposed fiscal 2016 budget for publication. If approved, county rates would fall about 76 cents per $1,000 from taxes payable in the current fiscal year.
  The rates are not yet finalized. Before the budget can be adopted, a public hearing will be held. Comments can be sent to the auditor or brought to the board at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10 in the county supervisors’ boardroom.
  The proposed property tax rate the county levies on urban areas is $5.99751 per $1,000 assessed valuation for taxes assessed starting in September, down about 76 cents. The proposed rate on rural areas is $9.74751 per $1,000 assessed, also down about 76 cents ...
