Community supports CHS grad in battle with cancer

CLARKSVILLE — People attended Heery Woods State Park Saturday in droves for a 5-kilometer run to benefit 2011 Clarksville High School graduate Blake Rottink, who in March learned he had cancer.
  After most of the runners had poured in, a pale but cheerful Rottink in a face mask pulled up in a golf cart with friends Logan Faust and Aiden Doty.
  Rottink, a student at University of Northern Iowa, said the March diagnosis of T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma hasn’t changed his aspirations. He said he will pick up his incomplete courses at UNI in order to graduate at the end of the summer in pre-med. He plans to follow with paramedic classes at Hawkeye Community College next year, before medical school ...
