Common frauds reported in area

Phone and check frauds are reported several times a week in Butler.

Common area scams may ask a person for an initial payment before they receive an excess amount of cash. And, most shams put pressure on individuals to decide at once.

Butler Sheriff Jason Johnson says a successful scam is all profit for the swindler.

“Just one bad moment or decision is what they are preying on,” he says.
