Clarksville teachers ask for 8% package increase

  CLARKSVILLE — The Education Association opened contract negotiations with its request for changes to salary and master contract language on Monday.
  The association’s initial proposal was a salary package increase of slightly over 8 percent, or $170,105 altogether.
  All staff salaries are paid from the general fund, Superintendent Eric Wood said.
  The increase was figured assuming health and dental costs would rise 3.5 percent. The Clarksville School Board learned at the meeting that the actual dental rate increase would be 5 percent. The change was not expected to push the total package increase past 8 percent, however.
