Clarksville Popcorn Stand opening for the summer

The Popcorn Stand will be opening this Friday for another season in downtown Clarksville. The stand will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Hours are 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly. The landmark, which has been in operation since the 1930s, is currently under the operation of the Clarksville Fire Department, which uses the proceeds towards equipment and training, with volunteers from the department staffi ng the stand. The popcorn stand has a page on Facebook where fans can share memories and keep current on happenings at one of the few remaining popcorn stands in Iowa. (Contributed by Jeff Kolb)
