LATIMER – Clarksville built a 54-0 halftime lead and then eased off the gas pedal in being part of state history against CAL as the Cadets broke the all-time Iowa state record for consecutive losses on Friday, Oct. 10.

CAL got into a hole early against the Indians and couldn’t climb out of it, giving up three touchdowns and two safeties in the first quarter alone in the 61-29 loss to Clarksville.

It was the 61st straight for the Cadets, whose last victory came at the end of the 2007 season against Janesville.

The previous record was 60 by Waterloo East, ending Oct. 13, 2006.

More on this story will be found in the Oct. 16 print edition of the Clarksville Star.
