WINTHROP – Playing in an extremely tough Class 1A regional final, the Clarksville girls’ golf team finished in a tie for fourth at Buffalo Creek Golf Course at Winthrop on Monday, May 23.
Only the top two teams and five individuals, including ties, advanced to the Class 1A state golf meet.
Mason City Newman won the team title, shooting 377 as a team and in a surprise twist, last week’s regional first round runner-up to Clarksville, Nashua-Plainfield, improved itself by 36 strokes from the week before to finish runner-up at the regional final and move on to state.
