Several residents called in Tuesday night’s fire in Clarksville.

The garage at 521 South Mather St. had gone up in flames, lighting up town.

Clarksville Fire responded within minutes to the 11:30 p.m. calls, saving Dave and Julie Ciavarellis’ house.

Upon arrival, firefights concentrated on dousing the dwelling, as the garage was already collapsing.

“It was a pretty big fire,” said Jon Myers, fire chief. “The house was already burning inside when we got there, along with attic spaces on the east side. We were able to get it knocked down on the east side, and extinguish up in the attic, with water damage to the ceilings.
