Clarksville flood mitigation plans

Flood mitigation plans were discussed at the Clarksville City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 4.
     The council discussed the Superior Street Flood Wall Project and set the date and time for a public hearing and bid letting for the project at the council meeting October 1 at 7 p.m.
     The Superior Street project has been divided into two phases. The first phase would be extending the existing dikes down to Superior Street. The second phase would be a temporary flood wall across Superior Street.
     “This was the weakest point in 2016. This is where it failed,” Councilman Jeff Kolb said. “I look at this as our biggest and most expensive stretch. Doing that, we’ll be biting out the biggest piece.”
