Clarksville falls short of return to state tourney

CLARKSVILLE — Inning by inning as Clarksville was unable to score, the window of opportunity for the Indians slowly inched to a close.
Janesville seized on its lone chance and upset the defending state runner-up, 1-0, to deny the Indians, ranked fifth in the final Class 1A poll, another shot at state.
For a young team that graduates only one player from this year’s team, it still stings.
“I think they were all just kind of expecting it but we only have one senior,” Clarksville coach Katie Wedeking said. “We have to remind them that we’ve got one or two years left to go but it’s going to hurt for about a week..."
