Clarksville City Council approves salaries for fiscal 2016

  CLARKSVILLE — The Clarksville City Council on Monday approved freezing pay rates for its appointed officers and employees for fiscal 2016, which starts July 1, 2015.
  The Council directed that wages not increase because of a high increase in health insurance premium last year, City Clerk Larry Betts said.
  The city pays 100 percent of health insurance coverage, so the employees do not contribute toward premiums, Betts said.
  The resolution passed with councilpersons Jeff Kolb, Diane Renning, Travis Sterken and Val Swinton voting in favor. Councilwoman Cathy Cummings, who is married to the police chief, abstained.
