Larry Betts leaves Clarksville in good financial condition
Clarksville City Clerk Larry Betts has retired. Betts sees spending time with grandkids and working on tinkering projects in his future.
“They want me to make a Public Works Department sign for the maintenance guys,” Betts said.
Besides his tinkering in woodworking, he has a honey-do list to start on, plans to attend church luncheons, take his wife shopping, go on walks, drink Diet Pepsi, and visit this his sister.
Betts said he has been planning for this step for the past two years, training the incoming city clerk, Lori Peterson and deputy clerk Kayla Hinders. Software conversion, and the ambulance shed project are two other recently completed items he wanted to see done by the time he left office. Working with FEMA on last year’s flood also took a lot of his time.
