City taxes are swooping down this year

The City of Clarksville general funds is estimating to use 92 percent of their annual budget ($491,056) this year, with taxpayers chipping in $8.10 per $1,000 for the levy.

Clarksville homeowners will likely pay $2.56 less per $1,000 valuation for the city’s portion of property taxes in fiscal year 2014.

Due to the city paying off fire truck, ambulance and squad car loans, their tax levy is expected to dip down to $14.98, which would mark the lowest levy per $1,000 valuation since 2005, when it was at $14.51.
