The Clarksville council voted unanimously to approve the city-owned lots on the 100 block of S. Main Street as the new city hall building location. This will bring new life to the gap left on Main Street by the demolition of three dilapidated buildings last summer.
“I think it’s a great location for a brand new building,” said Mayor Val Swinton.
Design work is still in progress, as well as discussion on financing for the building.
“For the most part, the entire council assumed that was the path we were going to go, and the action last night makes it formal. We’re all on the same page … as we start to talk about rebuilding now and what direction to go; we know where it will be situated,” said councilman Jeff Kolb.
