CLARKSVILLE —City Council moved toward restricting parking near the Clarksville School and on another city street Monday.
The city passed the second reading of Ordinance No. 269, amending parking. The third reading will occur at the April 6 council meeting. The adopted ordinance will take effect when the signs are installed later this spring.
If it passes the final reading and is adopted:
  • Signs prohibiting parking will be placed on the south side of Jefferson Street, from the east end of the street to Church Street near the entrance to the trailer court ...
  • Signs limiting parking to one hour will be placed along the east half-block of Wamsley Street on both sides between Main and Mather streets, northwest of the school.
Read about a dissenting vote on the Wamsley Street parking restriction and opinions from both sides in the March 19 Clarksville Star.
