“Bristow was quite a town in its day,” remembers Bristow native Lee Folkerts.

His father, Harold, and uncle, Clayton, both were born and bred there on a farm just east of town.

Clayton etched his name into the history books in 1926 by creating the Monocoupe – a plane with one set of wings, and like the coupe (a popular automobile), it carried two passengers side-by-side.
