Bernita K. St. John–Wiebke, 90

Bernita K. St. John–Wiebke, 90, of Cedar Falls died on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Unity Point Health – Allen Memorial in Waterloo.
Bernita Kay was born on January 27, 1935, the daughter of Roy E. and Thea A. (Bauman) DeBower at home. Bernita was baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church. She attended Jefferson #7 elementary school rural Allison through the 8th grade and graduated from Allison High school in 1953. On October 1, 1954, she was united in marriage to Kenneth St. John at St. James Lutheran Church. Bernita was employed at Shepherd Law Office, BE Micks Bridal Shop, Bremer County Abstract, Butler County Recorder, Allison Public Library, Dee Busy Bee in Allison. Kenneth died in 2006, and she married Roy Wiebke on July 25, 2008, in Allison.
She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. Bernita was a published illustrator, enjoyed tole painting, taught painting lessons, making crafts, collecting Angels, reading and gardening.
Survivors are her children, Kevin (Barb) St. John of Shell Rock, Kathryn Thede of Waterloo, and Jill (Denny) Wiegmann of Dumont; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; Jan DeBower, Ronnie Allan and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Kenneth St. John and Roy Wiebke; siblings, Roger DeBower, Dallas DeBower, James DeBower, Bonnie McKean, Larry DeBower, and Delores Allan; son-in-law, Sidney Thede; in-laws, Arnold and Shirley Oltmann, Helen DeBower, Susie DeBower, Dona DeBower and Frank McKean.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison with Pastor Rebecca Baird presiding. The family will greet family and friends an hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will follow in Allison cemetery. Memorials can be directed to either St. James Lutheran Church roof fund or Unity Point Hospice and online condolences left atwww.kaisercorson.com.
