Bearcats' season ends in regional final

NEW ALBIN - For the second straight season, the North Butler softball team ended its campaign a game away from the state softball tournament.
No less heartbreaking than the year before, the Bearcats lost a 1-0 decision against No. 2-ranked Kee of Lansing at the softball complex in New Albin.
What made it all the more gut-wrenching was the top half of the inning in which the Kee Hawks scored, North Butler had the bases loaded with no outs and were unable to come up with a key hit to drive any home.
"We tried to put a suicide squeeze on, the runner didn't go, but that's okay," North Butler coach Jeff Stirling said. "They come in on us hard and we bunted it right back to her...."
