Allison Library and Council disagreements resolve with possible solution

Allison Library petitions for budget increase, highlighted by state cuts
The airing of grievances continued between Allison Mayor and Council and the Allison Library Board at Monday’s council meeting, resulting in a direct consultation session between Master Electrician Donald Sweiter, Sweiter Electric, and the library board.
Library Board member Randy Brinkman expressed to council that in consulting with outside electricians who are not involved with the current lighting project, that the current LED fixtures should be replaced to the original florescent fixtures, with the option of continuing with an LED project placed on the board for a later time. The cost would be approximately $4,000, said Brinkman, to design the correct LED fixture, and would allow for an electric engineer to work with the board’s electrician for “a whole lot less,” however, the project wouldn’t be put out to bid.
The sentiment from mayor and council was that paying to put back the fluorescent fixtures, only to spend money on the replaced LED fixture wasn’t a wise use of money.
