AITC Talks About Butter

Butler County Farm Bureau AITC Coordinator Ruth Seehusen visited the Allison kindergarteners on January 20 to talk to them about
dairy products. Ruth read the book “Clarabelle”, which told the class about dairy cows, calves, and milk products. Did you know that a
cow will eat enough food in a year to fill your bedroom three times? Or that a dairy cow needs to drink an entire bathtub of water each
day to help her produce all the milk she does. The students divided into groups and were given a jar of cream to shake. Each student
had to count to 25 while shaking the jar and then pass it to someone else in their group so that they too could do the same. Everyone
was amazed when the cream turned to butter to eat on crackers as their treat.
