Agribusiness plans approved; scalability plan for treatment plant requested

The Allison City Council approved detailed plans on the proposed Nicolaus agribusiness on Monday, May 9. The building was moved back away from the variance area. The council also heard a request for a scalability plan from the CEO of Allan Inc.
The Nicolaus agribusiness building is proposed for the tax increment district along Hwy. 3, west of Star Graphics, and the idea is for it to receive a loan for an amount the city aims to recoup in taxes on the new building, as previously reported.
Elected officials and the city clerk heard from John Cork, CEO/CFO at the Allan Corporate Powder Facility in Allison.
For background, at the April 25 council meeting, Mayor Scot Henrichs had mentioned that the company was behind on its bills and trying to work out an arrangement. The city-contract engineer had suggested the purchase of a chiller to recycle water and cut the company’s water use.
