Missing signs dotted Plainfi eld doors, a sobering reminder against the backdrop of the 150th anniversary town festival that started Thursday and continued last weekend. Cloris Mehmen, 76, of Plainfield has been missing since Tuesday, July 5.
She is described as 5 foot tall weighing 130 pounds. She was last seen wearing faded blue/ gray pants and a man’s short sleeve shirt. She may also be wearing glasses. It is possible clothing and glasses being worn have changed, Bremer County Sheriff Dan L. Pickett stated. She was last confirmed seen early morning of July 5, at home.
Ground searchers have walked thousands of acres of crops and wooded areas, Pickett said. Hundreds of miles of ditches and green spaces have been searched multiple times. Possible sightings have been reported; however, follow- up efforts on all sightings have not confirmed a location for Mehmen. An extensive ground search covered about 1,000 acres over three days, said Butler County Emergency Management Agency Director Mitch Nordmeyer, but it didn’t yield anything.
