Seventy-five children and adults watched as “Rick Eugene” Brammer made things disappear, reappear, transform and tie in with reading at his magic show on a rainy Friday, July 29.
The Clarksville Public Library has invited Brammer twice over as many years, Library Director Kristen Clark said. Other visits have been to bend balloon animals and sell children’s books for over 90 publishers, his day job.
Reading tie-ins on Friday included asking volunteers how many books they’d read over the summer (five was the most) and a word-unscramble contest at the end. “It’s always fun,” Clark said of Brammer’s shows. With the rain that day, the event offered a reason for kids to escape the house, she said. “It worked out great.”
Brammer read his first book on magic about age 10, he said, which interested him in magic kits. He encouraged children to search in the nonfiction section, under number 793.
